Threats and Countermeasures of Doubly-fed Induction Generator High-voltage Trip-off under Short Circuit Fault

Wind power grid-connected capacity continues to grow rapidly in our country, the continuous and safe grid connection of wind turbines after the grid is affected by disturbances is more and more important to the stable operation of the system. Paper conducts research based on the above status, firstly, the reactive power control strategy model of GE-type doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) that packaged in PSD-BPA is analyzed, and the DFIG grid-connected test system is established. By using the large disturbance excitation method, the influence of changes in grid-connected bus voltage on the transient response of DFIG is studied. Aiming at the increase process after a sharp drop in voltage, paper reveals that the internal potential of wind turbines with voltage feedback control function has the characteristic of “callback lag”, analyzes the mechanism of this characteristic triggering the threat of DFIG high-voltage trip-off, and puts forward the countermeasures. Finally, combined with the simulation results of short-circuit fault in Hami area power grid, paper verifies the existence of the threat of high-voltage trip-off under such failures and the effectiveness of the proposed countermeasures to reduce the threat.
