Grey Prediction PI Control of Direct Drive Permanent Magnet Synchronous Wind Turbine

With the development of high-performance and high-quality permanent magnet materials and the development of high-power converter technology, direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous wind turbines (D-PMSG) have been increasingly used. The time-varying and non-linear characteristics of wind power systems make it difficult for traditional control methods to achieve satisfactory control results. Therefore, the application of advanced control methods in wind turbines has important theoretical and practical value. The D-PMSG is taken as the research object and a method that combines the grey prediction with the traditional PI control is proposed control the dual-loop of the wind turbine side,-the outer speed loop and inner current loop,under maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control. To build and simulate the wind power control system simulation model which includes D-PMSG and grey predictive PI controller. Simulation results show that compared with traditional PI control, gray prediction PI control has the advantages of faster response, better robustness, and smaller overshoot.
