Discussion on Reactive Power Coordination Control Technology of VSC/LCC HVDC Parallel Hybrid System

In recent years, with the continuous construction of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission projects in China, a new type of grid structure named VSC/LCC HVDC parallel hybrid system is formed. The structural characteristics of the system are described in this paper, and three control strategies for reactive power coordination between VSCHVDC and LCC-HVDC are proposed, so as to give full play to the structural advantages of VSC/LCC HVDC parallel hybrid system, the VSC-HVDC reactive power capacity can be reasonably utilized, the service life of LCC-HVDC related primary equipment can be prolonged and its loss can be reduced.
