Analysis on On-site Artificial Grounding Fault Test of MMC-HVDC Grid

In this paper, test scheme and results of artificial grounding short circuit test for Zhangbei MMC–HVDC power grid are analyzed. Formation principle of artificial grounding short-circuit current is analyzed according to the structure of MMC-HVDC power grid. An estimation method of short-circuit current is proposed. Comparison between estimation results and field artificial grounding short circuit test results shows that, short current can be calculated approximately using method proposed. Which provides a preliminary basis for equipment stress check before field test.
