Frequency reconfigurable Microstrip Patch Antenna with an Arc-shaped cut

This paper represents performance analysis of frequency reconfigurability of a rectangular shaped patch antenna having an arc shaped cut along the radiating edge. The frequency reconfigurability characteristic of patch antenna is controlled by managing electrical length of the current flowing through radiating patch. The switching PIN diode concept is used to control the flow of current. The designed structure is adequate for both C-band and X-band applications simultaneously. Maximum impedance BW of 560 MHz and 310 MHz is obtained in X-band with a single switch and two switches respectively. Maximum impedance BW of 60 MHz and 140 MHz is obtained in C-band with a single switch and two switches respectively.
