Abstract:

Policy and charging rule function (PCRF) node of LTE-A network, is used for provisioning of policy and charging resources to policy and charging enforcement function, which is generally situated at packet data network gateway (PGW). It is possible to introduce Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) node to distribute traffic among different PCRF nodes in LTE-A network to get fast response from PCRF at PGW or at application function (AF).In this present work, we derive the system delay analytically to get response from PCRF with DRA and without DRA. We show that proper use of DRA can be helpful to decrease the system delay performance. But improper use of DRA can introduce additional delay to get response from PCRF.
