Photometric Flicker Metrics: Analysis and Perspectives

This paper complement another presentation, and focus mainly on the mathematical framework behind flicker metrics. The purpose is to review the algorithms extracting the features of the light level temporal fluctuations, and establish some of their properties. As the signals from the physical world will invariably be contaminated by noise, the robustness of the metrics to approach the "true" value will be assessed. By doing so, alternatives will be studied.
