Harmonic Manipulation of Microwave by Time-varying Polarization-converting Metasurface

We propose a general and flexible scheme to manipulate the harmonics of electromagnetic wave using time-varying polarization-converting metasurface. In particular, amplitude modulation and polarization conversion theory are combined together to achieve frequency shift and tailored energy distribution of reflection waves. Meta-atom loaded with PIN diodes operating at 2.4 GHz is designed and used for theoretical calculation. The proposed theory and method is aimed to achieve spectrum control by simple polarization-controllable metasurface, which may be further used for wireless communication applications.
