Loss Reduction and Voltage Profile Renovation with Optimum Sizing and Siting of Distributed Generation in Distribution Network

Advancement of modern technology has resulted in huge consumption of energy on a daily basis which causes high generation costs, power losses, low voltage profile, voltage instability in the distribution system. Distributed generation (DG) is now regarded as the most suitable solution of these problems by the researchers. But the accurate result can only be obtained by adding the exact size DG in the exact bus. This paper demonstrates a new method using the Forward Backward Sweep (FBS) Algorithm that renovates the voltage Figure and diminishes power losses by determining the strategic position and size of the DGs. The prime focus of this work is to find out the convenient buses where DGs are to be placed and the exact size of DGs by applying the proposed method to maximize the contraction of power losses with an enhanced voltage profile of the buses of the distribution network. The proposed approach has been performed for the IEEE-33 bus radial distribution system. In this paper, finding suitable power factor has also been given importance while installing DGs for getting the best result. Overall, 85.48% of power loss is minimized in comparison with the base case.
