Voltage Sag Compensation in Distribution System Using Dynamic Voltage Restorer

The quality of electricity is a big problem in terms of electrical energy. Nowadays, power quality problems include a huge role of instability effects such as voltage sags, flickers, melodic distortions, impulse transient and interruptions. This paper refers to the problem of voltage sags, harmonic and sensitive loads. The Dynamic Voltage Recovery (DVR) is the obvious answer to protecting breakable loads from voltage sags and swelling, as it is cost-effective at present. Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) with Proportional Integral (PI) is used to control the compensating voltages of DVR. However, the performance of these two is not enough to mitigate the voltage surge, vague argument-based DVR has been addressed in this paper to increase this performance. The simulation results justify the superiority of fuzzy reasoning-based dynamic voltage recovery over both PI and SRF-based dynamic voltage recovery. Also, features of harmonic for fuzzy logic-based DVR controller, PI-based DVR controller and SRF-PLL based DVR controller are discussed.
