An 18:1 Bandwidth Bio-Matched Antenna Covering the MedRadio, ISM, and WMTS Bands

Our previous work has introduced a modeling framework for custom designs of Bio-Matched Antennas (BMAs): ultra-wideband, wearable, into-body antennas constructed from the combination of dielectric and water. In this paper, we use our modeling framework to design a novel BMA with 18:1 bandwidth that covers the 0.38 - 7 GHz range. This is the first BMA that covers the MedRadio, ISM, and WMTS bands. The antenna is fabricated using stereolithographic 3D printing and measured upon a tissue-emulating phantom. To ensure repeatable fabrication, we also present measurements of the electrical properties of the cured 3D printing material.
