A Regularly 2-D Limited Scan Array with Low Grating Lobes

A 2-D limited scanning phased array antenna is proposed in this paper. The array antenna is composed two similar sub-arrays with equidistant rectangular grid. By arranging the sub-arrays randomly, the grating lobes of the phased array antenna are reduced. To prove the idea, a 98-sub arrays antenna operating at Ka-band is designed as an illustration.
