Broadband Pentadent Monopole Antenna with Uniform Radiation Pattern

In this paper a broadband pentadent monopole antenna is presented. The pentadent monopole antenna consists of five arms: main monopole antenna and two side monopoles with parasitic arms attached to each of them. The side monopoles and parasitic arms resonate at higher frequencies, which are responsible for wide impedance bandwidth and less variation in radiation pattern. The 10 dB impedance matching bandwidth is from 1.326-4.628 GHz (110%) and the antenna has uniform radiation pattern over the bandwidth. The size of the fabricated antenna is 73.5mm × 62mm ( 0.32λ₀×0.27λ₀), where λ₀ corresponds to lowest frequency of the impedance bandwidth.
