A Heuristic Caching Strategy In D2D-enabled Cellular Network

Mass content will be produced at the age of information expansion. Cache mechanism is seen as a promising technology in wireless networks to alleviate the traffic congestion. Hence, in device-to-device (D2D) enabled cellular network, user equipment and base stations are qualified to cache content and communicate with each other to enhance the quality of service (QoS). Due to the unknown popularity distribution of content files, it is crucial and challenging to design an effective caching algorithm for users to access content. In this paper, we investigate caching strategies in D2D-enabled cellular network with limited storage capacity. In order to optimize this problem, we propose a cache replacement strategy for heuristic algorithm. The simulation results show that the algorithm outperforms other benchmark strategies in improving the hit rate under different conditions.
