Analysis of the Stall Inception on Axial Compressors Using Permutation Entropy

The occurrence of rotating stall in axial compressors will lead to non-linear characteristics in the measurements typically, which is caused by instantaneous variations, and which can increase the complexity in the system response. Permutation Entropy (PE) is capable to quantify these dynamic changes in the underlying course, which can distinguish between different system conditions. In this paper, the state and dynamic characteristics of time series are analyzed on stall inception using PE. We try to find out whether the dynamic characteristics are more abundant information than the stall characteristics. The simulation results show that the dynamic characteristics have better effect in distinguishing stall inception.
