Propulsion system optimization for the tail-sitter VTOL SUAV

This study is focus on the optimization of the proprotor propulsion system for an tail-sitter VTOL SUAV. The propulsion should meet the need of vertical taking-off, cruising and transition between hovering and cruising. The propulsion system is necessary for the effective control in flight, especially in transition mode. Based on the tail-sitter VTOL SUAV, the design difficulties are analyzed. And the optimization is built with the consideration of BEMP system matching and two different design points. The flight test proves that the optimized proprotor propulsion system is suitable and effective to control.
