A Real Time Power Hardware in the Loop Test Bed for Power System Stability Studies

This paper presents a real time power hardware-in-the-loop test bed for power system (PS) stability studies developed and implemented in the Power System Stability Laboratory (PSSL) of TU-Sofia. Application of grid forming inverter serving as power amplifier is presented and evaluated in terms of response time and fidelity. The solution uses standard and cost effective multifunctional components and allows testing of devices and systems over wide range of conditions in a safe and realistic physical laboratory environment.
