Evaluation of Correlation Method for Monitoring of Localized Corrosion in Water Environment

The use of correlation-based video inspection system for evaluation of development of a localized corrosion process requires validation of its inaccuracy. This investigation was provided for laboratory testing of speckle correlation method, developed for evaluation of localized corrosion degree on metal surface in water environment. Stainless steel sample with rough surface in water salt solution was tested. Localized corrosion degree was monitored during experiment with correlation method and its error value was evaluated.
