Casual Gaming to Encourage Reuse of Waste Materials for Environmental Sustainability

Malaysian, especially the younger generation, no longer interested in reusing waste material so that the volume of waste disposal can be reduced. With the intention to create awareness of the importance of reuse practice in Malaysian household, this study proposed and developed ReLife, a casual mobile game that educate gamers about reuse practices. Thirty casual gamers tested the game prototype and the game experience questionnaire was used to collect survey data. The findings support the benefits of persuasive technology, by means of a mobile game, in creating awareness of reuse activity, as well as influencing their attitudes towards the whole environmental issues.
