Dual-band Parabolic Antenna for High Capacity Backhauls and Fronthauls

This manuscript presents the development of a dual-band parabolic antenna for high capacity fronthauls, operating in microwave and millimeter waves simultaneously. It is based on the integration of a focal-point and a Cassegrain parabolic antennas in the same structure, sharing a single main reflector to jointly operate in the Cand Ka-bands. The antenna has been designed and characterized, presenting 14.76% bandwidth centered at 7.45 GHz, 15.38% centered at 29.25 GNz, and gain of 30.4 and 39.7 dBi at 7.5 and 28 GHz, respectively. The prototype has been implemented in a real point-to-point link for evaluating digital performance. The link was able to transmit a 64-QAM signal with error vector magnitude EVM%= 3.11% and 6 Gbit/s throughput.
