Optimal Allocation of Renewable Energy Resources in Microgrid Considering Stochastic Behaviour

Optimal allocation and suitable sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) units have vital role in reducing power losses and improving voltage stability of power system. In this paper, considering voltage stability improvement and power losses reduction as objectives, the evaluation of siting and sizing of DG units including stochastic nature of DG has been investigated. To achieve these, power loss and voltage stability are taken as the objective functions considering different operating constraints and the probabilistic nature of DG, modelled using probability density function. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is applied to solve the multi-objective problem. The solution method has been tested on IEEE-33 bus standard radial distribution systems. The ability of the proposed method in enhancing of voltage stability, and reduction of power losses are confirmed using simulation results.
