Modeling of Grid Connected PMSG based WECS

Nowadays, the use of wind energy for generating electricity is increasing and with the advancement of power electronic converters use of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is become popular as it has several advantages over other variable speed wind turbine generators. The main contribution of this research work is to develop a mathematical model of grid-connected PMSG based wind energy conversion system (WECS). The model is simulated using MATLAB SIMULINK (Simulink root library only). In this research work modeling of different components of WECS which includes wind turbine model, PMSG model, a functional model of ac to dc converter and voltage source inverter (VSI) is done. Converters are mathematically model using the switching functions.
