Abstract:

This paper proposes a Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm, which is designed for dynamic task allocation in the context of Internet of Things (IoT) and especially Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The resulting algorithm enables the WSN to optimize network metrics and mitigate changes in network topology through node failures by providing re-allocation of tasks based on continuous optimization of the task allocation. The approach is evaluated using a simulation of multiple WSNs with different topologies and task configurations measuring the network lifetime and latency. Comparing with existing single-objective algorithms, the approach shows comparable performance regarding network lifetime while improving the latency of the network.
