Techniques and Indices for Preventive Maintenance optimization

The authors present a few techniques and the corresponding indices for preventive maintenance optimization (PMO). Following a comprehensive presentation of maintenance categories as well as their importance for industrial systems operation, the focus is oriented to the specific indices like average, median and maximum preventive maintenance duration. Techniques related to PMO are based on minimum out-of-service duration, reliability and average time to repair, optimum preventive maintenance frequency, economical benefits and preventive and corrective maintenance coordination. Finally, two Markov chain models for PMO are detailed. The models include both maintenance types: corrective and preventive.
