Circular Stimulated Emission Luminescent Solar Concentrators (SELSCs)

One of the most significant losses in luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) is via the escape cone. In order to reduce this loss, in recent years, the concept of using a seed laser to induce stimulated emission has been proposed. This new concept is called a stimulated emission luminescent solar concentrator (SELSCs). However, a working SELSC has yet to be demonstrated, due to demanding material requirements. In this work, we show through numerical simulations that using a circular SELSC geometry would result in improved performance over a slab geometry, with significant reductions in threshold material requirements.
