Analysis of Polynomial Co-Efficient Based Authentication for 3D Fingerprints

The 3D fingerprint authentication is an emerging topic and has attracted attention as it addresses the limitations of the traditional contact-based fingerprint recognition. The contactless fingerprint systems provide good accuracy compared to the touch based. This paper presents Polynomial Coefficient based authentication for 3D fingerprints. The 3D database is utilized as input in the proposed methodology. The parametric method is used for the unwrapping of the 3D fingerprint to touch equivalent 2D. The minutiae points are extracted based on mathematical morphology. Walking direction field algorithm is used for the detection of singular point. The distance of minutiae points from singular points are calculated. Irreversible transforms are applied on the distances obtained. A polynomial curve is generated by using the distances and the transformed points. The polynomial coefficients are then stored as user template which will be stored in database and will be used for matching purpose. Using same user data multiple templates can be created with the help of user key set values. The proposed method is implemented in Python. Implementation results show that Polynomial coefficient based authentication provides a dynamic matching rate.
