Implementation of Automated Water Supply and Distribution using PLC and SCADA

In any country facilitating potable drinking water is the vital service to the public. Though urban areas are well developed but water distribution service is not automated in some of the places. Hence efficient water supply is possible only when all the prime requirements are met. Superior automated process of water distribution system using SCADA and PLC along with water theft monitoring is presented in this paper. Power for the system is generated from the thrust of water flow in the channel. Hence the process parameters are developed in a prototype model, verified and presented here. For communication purpose GSM modem is used to inform the authorized operators of the system in case there is water theft and pipe leakage.
