Simulation Research of Low-Voltage Modules of Rectifier in 3kV Railway Substation

This paper shows the new topology of modular and scalable 3kV traction rectifier. The 3 kV traction rectifier consists of three low voltage modules. Each module consists of Yyd transformer and the series cascade of two low-voltage 6-pulse bridges of rectifiers connected on the DC side. The low-voltage 6-pulse diode rectifiers with capacitors battery are known from industry voltage frequency drives (VFD). In proposed type of 3kV DC traction rectifier the short-circuit current can be limited by series connected inductance like in traditional solutions. Paper also shows the simulation results of application the 12-pulse module of diode rectifier in the railway substation. Results of rectifier model simulations show a big DC voltage stability on the side from load and disregarded low contents of alternative distortions voltage.
