Comparative Analysis of PI Control with Anti-Windup Schemes for Front-end Rectifier

Power factor correctors (PFCs) aim to improve the power quality of the supplies as switching power supply tends to draw high current magnitudes in a short period, resulting in distorted current outputs. Active front-end rectifiers are called PFC, where we don't require regeneration or input reactive power; also its reduces input side current THD, thereby improving the power factor. This paper addressed the three-phase Full wave rectifier as PFC with the average d-q mathematical model. This paper utilizes the d-q reference frame decoupled control theory to deliver rectified output using a PI controller. Furthermore, the Anti-Windup scheme is also used for mitigating performance degradation of PI controller, that is obtained because of rollover or windup phenomena in PI controller.
