Review of Artificial Intelligence-based Bearing Vibration Monitoring

Bearing is one of the most commonly used components in rotating machinery. Effective bearing health monitoring is very important for safe operation of mechanical equipment, which has been a difficult task due to complex operation conditions and different uncertainties. In recent years, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has provided new opportunities for bearing health monitoring. AI-based vibration monitoring makes it easier to identify the health status of one bearing than traditional methods, which has become a research hot-spot. Many studies have been done to detect and predict the condition of a bearing by using advanced AI algorithms. The aim of this paper is to review the development of machine learning and deep learning methods for bearing vibration monitoring. In particular, several issues of current studies are addressed and future development trends are discussed.
