Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics

This special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation (TDEI) is devoted to Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics (CMD) of high voltage insulation systems, with special focus on highlights in research and engineering. Uninterrupted power delivery is ensured by reliable power equipment in the areas of electricity generation, transmission and distribution. Diagnostic methodologies that are comprised of sets of measuring methods and systems used to assess the condition of these objects as well as the possibilities of their further operation are of fundamental importance in the strategies of operating electrical devices. With regard to high-voltage electrical power equipment, diagnostic investigations mainly concern the insulation systems, which are the main structural elements of these devices.
