An Overview to Design an Efficient and Secure Fog‐assisted Data Collection Method in the Internet of Things

This chapter outlines an idea to design an efficient data collection method in the IoT network. IoT technology deals with smart devices used to collect the data as well as to provide useful and accurate data to users. Many data collection methods already exist, but they still have some drawbacks and require further enhancements. This chapter outlines detailed information about designing a novel data collection method using fog computing in the IoT network. The main idea of using fog computing over cloud computing is to provide greater security to the data which is completely lacking in cloud computing. Today, security of data is one of the most necessary requirements. So, different security aspects are discussed in this chapter. Moreover, different aspects related to fog computing are also reviewed.
