Analysis of the Number of Passengers in Consecutive National Holiday Collected with a Practical Management Support System in the Case of Community Bus of Shingu Town in Japan

This study verifies the effect of various public data available on the Internet by route searching among regional public transportation services provided by municipalities. By using the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), standard transit data that was developed by a public agency in U.S. along with Google, we have been building a fundamental regional public transportation data for Japan. The dataset built in Japan (GTFS-JP) was formulated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism. Transit data used were displayed as route search results on Google Maps or other major domestic route-search content providers. Also, we have been developing a practical service-management support system for regional public transportation provided by municipalities. This system has a tablets application called SHINGU, which records the number of get-on or get-off passengers in consecutive national holiday. Finally, we analyzed the cause and effect on regional public transportation based on data measured and developed using SHINGU and various other data obtained from community bus “Marinkusu” in Shingu Town, Kasuya Country, Fukuoka Prefecture.
