Performance Investigation of Permanent Magnet Machine due to the Effect of Height and Length Magnet Edge Slotting of Fractional slot Number

The aims of this study are to investigate the performance of the permanent magnet machine (PMM) of 24 slots and 10 poles based on the impact of the height and length of the magnet edge slotting of fractional Slot Number. It evaluated the reduction value of the cogging torque of the two steps of the slotting method by using the finite element method tool of the proposed machine. Also, the distribution of magnetic flux for improving the performance of the proposed PMM was investigated. For the optimization technique, the Response Surface Method (RSM) has been implemented. It is obtained that the subtraction of the cogging torque for the proposed PMM model is 99.41 % contrasted with the initial PMM structure. It can be resumed that the performance result of the simulation might be applied to the renewable energy system, with the limited mechanical energy source, as in the wind power system.
