Analysis of Motor Terminal Voltage Oscillation and Its Simulation Based on Lumped Components

Motor terminal voltage oscillation may be caused by the PWM inverter power supply, posing a great threat to the insulation of the motor. In this paper, experiments carried out on motor drive system using 2-5m three-phase AC cables. The effects of voltage change rate, current magnitude, cable length, and cable spacing on the voltage oscillation of the motor terminal are analyzed in the test. Based on the experiments, a model used lumped parameters is proposed to estimate the voltage oscillation of the motor terminals.
