Reliability Analysis for Photoelectric Pods Based on FMEA

Photoelectric pods are usually opto-mechanical integration systems used in motion carrier systems such as vehicles, ships, aircraft, missiles and satellites. It generally has the capabilities of multi-spectral comprehensive detection, isolation of carrier perturbation, and keeping the optical axis pointing in space, as well as the ability to capture, track, aim, and locate targets. The photoelectric pod is equivalent to human eyes for weapons and equipment. Once a failure occurs, it may cause the loss of equipment function, and even incalculable loss. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the reliability of common optoelectronic pods using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and then obtain its key component and weak link. This research can be a good basis for further investigating the reliability of optoelectronic pods.
