Research on Vibration Measurement Method and Analysis of Air-core Reactor

In the view of the vibration of the air-core reactor generated by the electromagnetic force in high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations, it is essential to investigate the vibration characteristics of the air-core reactors from the perspective of vibration measurement. However, no experimental measurement under practical excitation was presented for the vibration characteristics. In this paper, the vibration measurement systems of the air-core reactors are implemented based on the laser Doppler vibrometer through the optical path. Different vibration measurement schemes are respectively proposed on the external winding, internal winding, and the spiders. As a result, it is verified that the vibration velocity of the reactor is proportional to the square of the excitation current within the allowable range of error, which indicates that the reactor is nearly a linear electro-mechanical system. The vibration characteristics of air-core reactors studied in this work can be provided for further investigation of the noise generation mechanism of the air-core reactor.
