A Study of the influence of HHO Gas on the Performance and Emissions of a Diesel Engine

In recent years, alternative fuels have received a lot of attention from research teams due to its ability to replace fossil fuels. Hydrogen is an alternative fuel with a future that will be used in internal combustion engines. One of the applicable methods of hydrogen production is water electrolysis because of unrestricted resources of the raw material and simple technology of production. For that reason, the aim of this study is modeling of a diesel engine for predicting the influence of hydrogen-water gases mixture (HHO gas) addition into intake manifold on engine performances and emissions. The simulation experiment is conducted using HHO gas and conventional diesel fuel, at a speed 2300 min^-1. The simulation tool AVL Boost was used to analyze the HHO gas addition on engine performance and emissions.
