Lumped Circuit Model of High-Frequency Power Transformers for Time-Domain Analysis

The paper deals with a practical method for time-domain analysis of circuits containing high frequency power transformers. It is based on a lumped circuit model of such transformers as precise as possible, taken into account all related phenomena in the ferrite core: nonlinearity with saturation, hysteretic behavior and even eddy currents depending of application. The model was implemented as a SPICE subcircuit and verified successfully on a rotary pot core transformer used to transfer power to the field winding of a novel brushless synchronous machine. The example proves the ease of use and flexibility of the model.
