Abstract:
In the next-generation 5G networks, Heterogeneous Networks are widely used to achieve greater spatial diversity. On the other hand, tens of thousands of devices are expected to be connected to the Internet and and their dense concentration in a given area will have significant consequences on the benefits of spatial diversity, which will affect the overall performance. This paper examines the degree of influence that channel correlation may have on the performance of the protocols cooperative MAC protocols, applicable in 5G networks. Some effects of the physical layer, and in particular, the correlated shadowing impact on the system performance and QoS is evaluated using Monte Carlo simulations.
