Simplified Design of Preset Stress Cone for HTS DC Energy Pipeline

High temperature superconducting (HTS) DC energy pipeline is a new type of hybrid HTS cable. The 30 m prototype under construction in China has a rated working condition of 1 kA/100 kV, which makes insulation is an important part of it. Due to the interruption of the grounding shielding layer at the joint, a stress cone is required to reduce the electric field concentration. With reference to the design method of conventional cable, the stress cone of the superconducting energy pipeline terminal was designed. For the convenience of processing, stress cones with different surfaces have been designed. The results of the finite element simulation show that changing the form of stress cone can improve its electric performance.
