Hydropower Plants Operation in the Amur River Basin Under Conditions of Anticipated Climate Change

The study estimates the long-term changes in the performance of the Bureya and Zeya HPPs under the climate change in the Amur basin utilizing quite a detailed representation of the HPPs operation throughout the year. Hydrological impact of climate change was estimated using CMIP5 ensemble modeling results for RCP 4.5 emission scenario. Water and power calculations were performed with the imitation model realized it programmed complex Kaskad. It was estimated that under the anticipated climate change in the Far East region the electricity production should increase by 2-3% relative to the present values.
