Oxygen Sensor for Combustion Control

This paper presents a potentially cheap oxygen sensor with application in combustion control. The working principle is based on re-visited Nernst equation. The sensor uses yttrium doped zirconia as electrolyte and has a heater in order to activate the chemistry inside the solid electrolyte. The device acts as a wide band sensor and, unlike the well-known oxygen lambda sensor, it does not need a reference gas to operate.
