Fundamentals of the Polarimetric Navigation System

The article deal with the development of a polarimetric navigation system, which would determine the relative attitude and position of airplanes. The detailed analysis of existing navigation systems is shown that the main direction of increase the safety of airplanes flights is forecasting and prevention of airplanes collisions by optimization of the relative trajectory of their flight. It has been shown that this can be achieved by determining the relative attitude and position of airplanes. The paper proposes a polarimetric principle for determining the relative attitude and position of the airplanes to each other, as well as, the navigation system, that implements it. The paper also presents the algorithm of the proposed system's operation and the formulas for predicting possible collisions, as well as, recommendations for changing the airplane's relative flight trajectory to prevent a collision. The results of mathematical modeling of the proposed system showed that the formulas for finding the computational parameters have a simple form, which significantly reduces the load on the computing system. The proposed system, potentially, allows determining the relative angles of roll and course, the relative linear deviations in course and height, the relative azimuth in the horizontal and vertical planes with high accuracy and sensitivity.
