Multigrammatical Approach to the Assessment of Sustainability of Intelligent Transport Systems

Multigrammatical framework (MGF) was developed as a multiset-based mathematical toolkit and knowledge engineering technology for the unified representation and solution of wide spectrum of problems from systems analysis to operations research areas. This paper is dedicated to application of MGF to the assessment of sustainability of intelligent transport systems (ITS), which is crucial for global mobility. Multigrammatical representations of basic problems concerning optimal planning on transportation networks (TN), namely, shortest path and traveling salesman, are described in their most general multiobjective statements, including resources necessary for objects relocation over TN. Notion of ITS sustainability regarding optimal solutions of these problems is defined, and relevant criteria for its assessment are introduced. Further developments of MGF application to problems concerning resilience of critical infrastructures are discussed.
