Automatic Definition of the Number of Planes within an Airdrome over Satellite Images

The paper researches the possibility of using different methods of building segmented maps for the task of automatic quantitative estimation of planes within an airdrome. Analysis showed that the best results had been received for the method of color space clustering. To decrease the segmentation inaccuracy, the paper suggests the method of fuzzy filtering. The logical function of the filter is calculated in the neighborhood of the area of the specified segment depending upon the values of the nearest regions. For the final decision whether the shape of the specified segment corresponds to the plane pattern the function of variation of the radius-vector length along the segmented contours is investigated. Analysis of the received results showed that the developed algorithm allowed automatic estimation of the number of planes within an airdrome.
