A Novel Cogging Torque Mitigation Method for Permanent Magnet Machine of Integral Slot Number

The objective of this paper is to propose a new method how to mitigate the cogging torque by applied the slotting method for the small permanent magnet machine of integral slot number which consists of 18 slots and 6 poles structure. It introduces some of the axial channels, but the axial channel's effect on the mitigation of cogging torque was not considered detailed in this article. The magnet edge of the permanent magnet machine was slotted, where the investigation of the Cogging torque mitigation method still refers to the design's stage. The presence of slotting in the magnet edge of the permanent magnet leads the density of magnetic flux in the air gap is more sine wave contrasted with the original structure. As the output consequence, the density of the magnetic flux flows within the air gap into the stator core more concentrated than flowing into the slot opening. To validate the result of the proposed structure, it is simulated and analyzed by the FEMM. The comparison of the CT and the peak value of the amongst the structures are calculated and provided. Finally, it is obtained that the mitigation of the torque of cogging of the proposed structure contrasted with the initial structure is 98.97%.
