Measurement of Partial Discharge on PCB using RC Detector, HFCT, and Loop Antenna

The partial discharge phenomenon in high voltage equipment has a very significant impact on the lifetime of the equipment. Increasing of the application of the integrated power modules on the electrical system influences the insulation system of the power module. Partial discharge effects on components are influenced by the shape of the voltage. PD testing on the PCB is used for Partial Discharge testing as a model used in the power module. PD measurements are carried out using IEC 60270 Standards. PD detection uses three PD sensors namely RC detector, HFCT, and Loop Antenna. PD measurements are carried out on oil insulation in the form of electrode plates as forming homogeneous electric fields. The results obtained by the characteristics of PD on the PCB using PDIV parameters, Waveforms, and PD Phase Patterns. Tests show that the appearance of PD can occur on PCB material at an initial voltage value of 11.5 kV on the Electric, RC and HFCT sensors and Non-electric sensors at a voltage value of 14.5 kV.
