Influence of Cable Shielding Strategies on Current Distributions in Automotive Electrical Drives

High voltage (HV) cables are usually shielded to assure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) due to their high efficiency. The distribution of parasitic and functional currents between HV cables and ground depends on the type of cable shielding employed in the system. Appropriate knowledge of these distributions are necessary as they face a very stringent requirement for low level conducted and radiated emissions. Focus of this contribution is to investigate the influence of different HV cable shielding strategies on CM and DM current distributions.
