Abstract:

In this work, the application in RFID of a promising 3D-printing technology called Digital Light Processing (DLP) and based on the photopolymerization of liquid resins is discussed. After a brief introduction to the effectiveness of 3D-printing technology in electromagnetics, based on the research activity of the authors on this topic, the characteristics of the DLP are deeply faced. Specifically, a first characterization of the dielectric properties of a commercial resin is presented and used to simulate an antenna for UHF RFID applications with unconventional shape. This last consists in two elements interlinked one each other. The movement between them enables a tuning of the resonance frequency as well as the impedance of the antenna.
